Fitness Recipe: Soft Apple Pie with the Scent of Cinnamon

We’ve got great news for you, it doesn’t have to be just a dream! Try our new recipe for a perfect apple pie and let its delicious taste melt on your tongue. Ingredients for the dough:

  • 420 g whole wheat flour
  • 180 g cold butter
  • 10 tbsp cold water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt

Directions:

Add flour and salt in a larger bowl and mix them together. Then add butter cut into small pieces, and combine the flour with the butter into a uniform mass with your hands or a kitchen robot. When the dough is well-combined, gradually add 5 tablespoons of water and knead the dough. Then add apple cider vinegar and continue adding water. Keep kneading the dough, so that it doesn’t become sticky. When the dough is done, form a loaf and divide it into ¾ and ¼. Then knead both parts with your hands once more and shape them into a disk. Wrap up the dough separately in a cling film and put in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

In the meantime, start preparing the filling. Peel the apples, remove the seeds, and slice them. While slicing, you can put the apples into lemon water so that they do not turn brown. Once you have sliced the apples, remove the lemon water and sprinkle the apples with coconut sugar, starch, cinnamon, vanilla and lemon juice. Mix the apples with your hands so that they are fully covered with the mixture and put them in the refrigerator.

After two hours, remove the bigger part of the dough from the refrigerator and roll it into a shape of a circle on the floured surface. Prepare a tart pan, grease it with coconut oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Put the rolled dough into the form so that it also covers the edges and press it with your finger. Then put the apples on the dough. Roll out the remaining dough as well, cut it into even strips and lay them down over the pie weaving the cross strips. Beat the egg and brush the top of the pie.

Bake the pie at 200 °C for 20 minutes. Then change the temperature to 180 ° C and bake it for another 20 minutes. Serve the pie with your favourite ice cream, or topped with your favourite calorie-free syrup. Enjoy every bite!
